Sixteen92: Friday the 13th Collection

Hello, fragrance fans! This Fragrance Friday I’m coming to you from the indie side of the perfume world to discuss one of the most exclusive lines on the market: Sixteen92’s Friday the 13th Collection. This collection is only available on, you guessed it, Friday the 13th. What makes it even more special is that a new scent is launched for each release.

There are currently eight scents in the collection, with the ninth scent, Lovers Lane, being debuted. This scent is evocative of classic slasher films and gives me a real CW’s Riverdale vibe. With notes of classic movie theater fair and the cold metal that Sixteen92 does so well, this is like the dark coin to their 2020 summer collection. This is a must-have for fans of highly specific atmospherics for anyone who wants to smell like their night took a wrong turn.

2020 saw another Friday the 13th back in March, which saw the edition of El Cucuy to the catalog. This sent is evocative of the Latinx monster used to get children to behave. It is a warm, almost tropical, scent with hints of darkness underneath. And if you like the more arid vibes, September 2019 gave us Groom Lake. Evocative of the Area 51 craze, this is the perfect fragrance for the alien fan in your life.

Traditional horror fans will be delighted by some of the firsts of the collection: The Vanishing Hitchhiker, Lycanthrope, and I Believe in Mary Worth. Mary Worth was actually the scent that lead me to Sixteen92, as the cold glass and tarnished silver notes were described to me as actually smelling haunted. I knew then that this collection was something special.

This year I hope to pick up the remaining three scents in the catalog. They are all on the earthy and cold side, with some aquatic notes for good measure. Gryla, Heliophobia, and Hessian of the Hollow have been on my “To Buy” list for quite some time. After all, with notes like frigid cave walls, moonlit vines, and forest mushrooms respectively, how can I say no? Seriously, there are mushroom notes.

The next Friday the 13th is not until August 2021, so if you want to try any of these scents, now is definitely the time! So, find a partner and head to Lovers Lane, but make sure not to pick up a ghostly hitchhiker. Or do. After all, a little spooky atmosphere is what we’re here for, right?
