Lucky Duck Games announced yesterday that they are partnering with Dutch publisher Splotter Spellen to release a special edition of their most popular title, Food Chain Magnate.

This new project will see the gameplay of the #38 ranked game on BoardGameGeek remain completely unchanged but given a visual overhaul. Set in 1950’s America, players take on the role of restaurant owners trying to outperform their competition while running every aspect of their growing business.

Food Chain Magnate is one of those ‘grail games’ that so many people strive to play because of the incredible strategic tabletop experience it offers,” says Az Drummond, Chief of Online Channels at Lucky Duck Games. “We are exceptionally excited to be able to publish a new edition of the game that stays true to the original mechanics while introducing a fresh new visual style and components to enhance the presence on player’s tables”.

The campaign that is coming to Gamefound will include new editions of both the base game and the expansion Food Chain Magnate: The Ketchup Mechanism & Other Ideas. Lucky Duck plan to make significant changes to the game’s components including the addition of miniatures, a new milestone tracker, and a storage solution as part of the box. This Special Edition is planned as a one-off print run and there is no retail release coming for this edition.

Az Drummond also confirmed that Lucky Duck Games are collaborating with Matt Paquette & Co. on the project. “The team that Matt has put together is exceptionally talented and we’re thrilled to have their experience working with us”. Matt Paquette & Co. has worked on a vast array of projects including the recent Perch Kickstarter by Inside Up Games and Wonderland’s War by Druid City Games.

Food Chain Magnate: Special Edition will come to Gamefound on November 14th 2023
