In late 2022, R. Talsorian Games announced a brand new addition to their Cyberpunk RED TTRPG, letting fans of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077 bring their favorite chooms to the tabletop for the very first time. This week, they revealed new details about the boxed set, including new art and their release window this June with plans for both physical and digital releases.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is a standalone set developed with CDPR meant not only for brand new players getting into the Cyberpunk RED tabletop roleplaying game but also veteran fans wanting new ways to play in the world of Cyberpunk.

  • Played with the Cyberpunk RED Ruleset
  • Lore & Backgrounds for Night City and the Edgerunners Crew
  • Rules for Quickhacks, Power Weapons, Tech Weapons & Smart Weapons
  • New Cyberware such as the Gorilla Arms, Mantis Blades & Monowire
  • The Jacket, a full mission taking place after the finale of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Contained within the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is a mission made as a love letter to both the anime and also Cyberpunk 2077 as a whole.

The Jacket takes place in the time after the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, putting you and your crew into the period between the ending of the anime and the start of Cyberpunk 2077. You will meet new faces, and some old ones too, as you step in to help recover some stolen iconic gear, taken from a rather sentimental cowboy. The Jacket is designed to throw players right into the action of the Cyberpunk RED TTRPG, and also written with multiple different potential endings.

What choices will end tragedy is up to you.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit brings with it lore and details about Night City during the time of Cyberpunk 2077, with details handpicked by Mike Pondsmith himself.  It features:

  • Seven New Edgerunners,  Pre-made to let you jump into the action & drawn by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Director Hiroyuki Imaishi
  • Lore & Backgrounds for David Martinez, Lucy, Rebecca, and the rest of the Cyberpunk:Edgerunners Crew
  • A Timeline from the Time of the Red (also known as the Red Decades) to the setting of the 2070s Era
  • Instructions & tools to play Cyberpunk RED in the 2070s
  • A Map of Night City during the events of The Jacket

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is many things, but it is not a new version of the Cyberpunk TTRPG rules.  It is also not a core rulebook in itself.  The Rule Book included contains what you need to play through the kit. The new rules outlined in the box set for the Cyberpunk 2077 era are fully run with the existing Cyberpunk RED system.  Cyberpunk RED is the latest edition, which is a refined and modernized version of the iconic Cyberpunk 2020 edition. This means that existing Cyberpunk RED games can indeed be adapted to the 2070s setting and vice versa if a GM wishes to.  If a player has experience with Cyberpunk RED, they will feel very comfortable playing with what’s available in the box.

While it is designed as a standalone product, it was also designed to be the new starter kit for Cyberpunk RED simultaneously.  It is also only a taste of what is to come for the setting of Cyberpunk 2077

The planned release window is mid to late June, barring any potential delays that may occur with printing or shipping.

Once we have the physical product available in our warehouse, we will make it available through our own webstore. It will also be available digitally through DriveThruRPG for anyone to be able to pick up. For local stores, it will be available when distribution and shipping allows.  International releases will also be at this rate.  Versions for Virtual Tabletops Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds will follow.

The MSRP for the physical Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit is $35.00 USD.
