The Perilous Preview, Part Two

Once again, another trailer drops that has a beeline directly to my fandom-loving heart. Another trailer for A Series of Unfortunate Events (ASOUE) is in the public’s possession, and I. Am. Ecstatic! I haven’t quite finished reviewing the series where the Baudelaire woes originally began, but the last two installments will be coming in soon. Maybe a movie review will come afterward…

Oh, and speaking of the original ASOUE movie, I’m getting a very similar stylistic feel to what the original movie brought—hopefully sans the glaring plot holes and inconsistencies.

As for the cast, I’m elated by their premieres as well. Neil Patrick Harris terrifies as the lush Count Olaf, the villain we all know and are extremely horrified by…or is that just me? It seems that this trailer was centered on his nefariousness, but did a good job of fulfilling other goals, such as making me go into complete fan-shock. Harris’s Olaf is scarily accurate, a little less of a caricature than what the film portrayed. This may be where the delivery differs—we may still have a dramatic Olaf, but he might be much more evil than the film had the chance to flesh out.

The Baudelaire children seem to be played by some newer faces, which will be awesome considering that more than likely, they will be aging during production. Malina Weissman and Louis Klyne play Violet and Klaus respectively, giving us our first look at the Baudelaire faces! We have a baby Sunny as well, which makes me wonder if any of my previously mentioned Incredible Sunny Moments™ will make an appearance. One can only hope.

Minor and supporting characters such as Mr. Poe and the white faced ladies are briefly shown as well, which just makes me more pumped. Accuracy makes my heart giddy of what is to come.

What was your favorite part of the trailer? Any qualms or critiques of our Baudelaires? Let us know!

A Series of Unfortunate Events releases on a (very satisfying) Friday the 13th, January 2017.
