Today at GAMA 2026, Wizards of the Coast announced the 2026 roadmap for Dungeons & Dragons, including both products and initiatives that change how the company approaches its releases. Three new books were announced: Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, Arcana Unleashed, Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, with each one tied to a small group of supplementary releases that reflect a shift in strategy for Wizards.
Giving broader context to the major product drops, Senior Vice President Dan Ayoub also introduced the concept of “Seasons” to D&D. Using major book releases as an anchor point, Seasons structure connected products and play initiatives to build a stronger sense of community and ongoing conversation around the major releases.
The first, the “Season of Horror” will be anchored by Ravenloft: The Horrors Within and run April through June 2026. It will mark the franchise’s return to Ravenloft and Strahd after 2021’s Van Richten’s Guide To Ravenloft, and be the first appearance of Strahd and his gothic realm in the new 2024 ruleset.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within will deliver more player options like new horror-themed subclasses, species, backgrounds, and Dark Gift feats. It will also deliver content around Darklords and Domains of Dread, as well as dozens of Fearsome Mists Denizens, including potential allies like the iconic Rudolph van Richten. The Horrors Within is a complete package for DMs to build a horror-themed campaign, with content that spans multiple subgenres like gothic, dark fantasy, cosmic, the occult, and more.

This “Season of Horror” will also include a new 60 card Tarokka deck, a DM screen, and a map pack. Preorders open April 13 with a full release June 16, 2026.
The “Season of Magic” will be anchored by Arcana Unleashed and Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, a new magic-themed sourcebook and accompanying adventure.

Arcana Unleashed will be the “ultimate guide for D&D magic enthusiasts”. Offering more high-magic character creation options and a new magic item system that will allow items to grow in power alongside character levelling. Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall is D&D’s ultimate Red Wizards adventure, outlining an all-new Wizard War as well as a deep dive into the powerful magical society of Thay.

The last major announcement at GAMA was the return of an updated D&D Encounters program, to encourage more live play at local game shops, driving deeper community participation and conversation around each major release. Wizards of the Coast will be working closely with local game stores to help grow in-store D&D play sessions, with kits supporting opening weekend and recurring weekly play.
