The third main entry in the smash-hit animated movie series, Despicable Me 3 sees series protagonist and reformed villain Gru team up with his newly introduced and previously unknown twin brother Dru. Dru is more successful, more stylish, and a far brighter personality.

The story begins when Gru goes to his brother after receiving a letter. Together they plot to steal a diamond from a child actor turned villain Balthazar Bratt, who recently stole the diamond himself. Gru hesitates to join his brother in the villain game, but we know where this ends up. “Sorry, I’m a good guy now and don’t do this anymore,” wouldn’t make for much of a movie.

As you can see, a lot of the movie seems to revolve more around Dru dragging his brother back into the villain life. I like to think I could say no to someone with that many vehicles, but I don’t know.

What I do know is what we’re getting with Despicable Me at this point. It’s a hugely popular series that has earned billions between the main series, spin-offs, merchandise, and video games. Universal Studios gave the movies their own ride. Enjoy it, Despicable Me fans. I’m sure you will, and I’m sure this movie will make hundreds of millions, just like the rest.

Me, I’m kind of stuck on how similar Dru looks to Fester Addams. You will never convince me these animators did not draw heavily from Addams Family Values when they designed this character.

I mean COME ON.

The franchise has never failed to bring in some pretty incredible comedy actors, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Julie Andrews, and Jenny Slate will be lending their voices. Despicable Me 3 is set to release on June 30.

I hate minions with a burning hatred and never watched anything past DM1 (because I was young and foolish), but reading “a child actor turned villain Balthazar Bratt” (child actor – turned villain – BRATt) and keeping in mind what Cars 3 (supposedly) plans on doing with the Baby Boomer – Millenials relationship makes me think that animated movies are trying to take cheap shots at some of its core audience for some reason…
