While similar to the trailer CJ previously covered, this newest trailer gives a more expansive and detailed look into the Tupac Shakur biopic. All Eyez on Me will seemingly try to cover the entirety of the legendary rapper’s life, from childhood to his tragic shooting death in Las Vegas.
It’s kind of a shame it has to show so damn much of the movie. I know Tupac’s career is no secret or anything, but come on.
All Eyez on Me looks to cover the social, cultural, and political influences on Shakur’s life and career, as well as his parents’ lives as activists, his own personal experiences with the law, and his well-known friendship-turned feud with Biggie Smalls. You can also bet that the explosive racial tensions of early ’90s America will play a role in the film considering Tupac’s direct experiences.
Check out the trailer below:
Tupac was a complicated man with a story worth telling and I hope this movie does it justice. The casting certainly looks spot on. The important figures of his life appear to all be included. I’m certainly hopeful. The rap scene in the ’90s was an integral part of American culture and there will be a lot of people pissed off if they get this movie wrong.
Based on the trailers so far, I think they’re getting it right.
All Eyez on Me releases on June 16, which would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday. It stars Demetrius Shipp Jr., Danai Gurira, Jamal Woolard, Kat Graham, and Dominic Santana among many others.
