Steamforged Games today released two new entries in their Epic Encounters product line of cinematic RPG adventures, Cove of the Dragon Turtle and companion box Island of the Crab Archon.
Cove of the Dragon Turtle builds on a product line that’s proven hugely popular amongst the roleplaying community. Each adventure-in-a-box contains everything needed to create an Epic Encounter for the Fifth Edition of the world’s favourite roleplaying game, or any fantasy tabletop RPG.
Game Masters (GMs) can fit each encounter seamlessly into an ongoing campaign or use the sets as short, one shot adventures. This makes it perfect for both new players (especially new GMs) and veteran roleplayers alike.
Cove of the Dragon Turtle is a “boss box”, meaning it contains a single, highly-detailed miniature on a giant base, and provides a stern test for any roleplaying party. It joins companion warband box Island of the Crab Archon in Steamforged’s range of RPG cinematic encounter boxes. Island of the Crab Archon features a full set of cruel, crab-like warriors, making it ideal to pair with Cove of the Dragon Turtle for a themed oceanic encounter.

Richard August, Lead Writer for Epic Encounters, says:
“Who doesn’t love a Dragon Turtle? They’re the best kind of sea monster – big, mysterious, and capable of lunging up from the occluded depths to tear through the rotting hull of a galleon in seconds. And, of course, there’s its breath weapon which renders it fairly lethal at range. Basically, the Dragon Turtle is the ideal kind of Epic Encounter big boss; it places associations and ideas in player’s heads the Game Master can use to their advantage, and it makes one hell of a mini. This fight should get real nasty!”
And Island of the Crab Archon? “The crabs are our first non-classic monster set, and I really hope we’ve designed something that feels both different, and familiar at the same time. The crab-kin (or Karkinos) are resilient foes, and they don’t take kindly to being interrupted while raiding shoreline villages. Their leader, the Archon, is a huge, hulking warrior, and venturing after him is about as dangerous as adventuring gets. Fortunately, the encounter is designed so that you can weaken him before you try and beard him in his lair.”
