What time is it? Well, it’s almost time for some new Adventure Time!

Anchoring the second of two weeks of new episodes beginning January 23rd, the “Islands” miniseries focuses on the revelations of the season 7 finale and Finn’s search for other humans in the Land of Ooo. Joining Finn during the 8-part series will be Jake the Dog, BMO (yay BMO), and part-human part-cyborg Susan Strong. Also seemingly playing a part in the series is the recently introduced Dr. Gross. Which is awesome, because she was so great.

Watch the teaser below:

I can’t be the only one suspicious about how much Bonnibel knows and excited to see the tension that secrecy might cause.

Adventure Time fans have waited a long time for answers about the rest of humanity, so the expectations are sky high. Add in Susan Strong’s origins and those of the Hyoomans, Finn’s new robo-arm, possible connections between BMO’s creator and Dr. Gross (don’t be surprised), and a lot might happen throughout “Islands.” And if none of that gets you excited (what’s wrong with you???), just remember how good the Stakes series was. That should finish the job.

After a shaky Season 5 and a divisive Season 6, Season 7 was a return to form for Adventure Time. With the recent news that 2018 will see the end of the show, “Islands” will likely play a large role in rocketing Finn and company towards the endgame. Enjoy it while it lasts. Without this show, many of our favorite animated shows would never have existed.

Thanks for the awesome years, Adventure Time. And confirm Bubbline already!

Yeah that sums it up best: Season 5 was a little “shaky” (but had good moments,…possibly due to holdover Rebecca Sugar effect before she truly left)….then then “divisive” Season 6….aka “without Rebecca, screw it, let’s abandon all of our running plotlines.”

Seriously, up until the moment I saw “Stakes” at the start of Season 7 I thought the show was doomed after Season 6.

I think they just got too deep into the whole philosophical turn the show took, and left the fun behind. Season 7 got back to the fun.

      • The Dragon Demands

“deep philosophical themes?” Yeah right. Oh some of them were playing with philosophical ideas, as much as Season 3 ever did, but others were pretentious crap, OR such…obscure and buried references that you wouldn’t get what they were talking about without reading a review. Which kind of misses the point of pop philosophy.

It feels supremely long since I seen an official AT teaser since CN somehow never advertised their S7 FINALE and got the lowest AT ratings ever as well as making many fans pissed. Anyway, apparently the Islands miniseries is gonna have an early DVD release from its official airdate (kinda like Over The Garden Wall) so you might see some Islands spoilers mixed with the first week. Just a heads up.

Sometimes it feels like Cartoon Network wants this show to fail. Do they even show reruns?

      • The Dragon Demands

Oh god no. Starting in Season 6 they also barely put it into reruns…where before, they’d have *multiple* marathons of it every day. So not only did the show turn into a longrun format you rally NEEDED to marathon (particularly Season 7) this was impossible to do. Hell they even shifted it to Saturday nights! Dear God. Well, at least they’re promoting the hell out of the Season 8 premiere. That’ something.
