Sean Astin Developed Grimmerspace RPG Launches Kickstarter Campaign

Well, that certainly didn’t take long. Notable genre actor Sean Astin’s (Lord of the Rings trilogy, Stranger Things) new Kickstarter campaign for the Starfinder (from Paizo Publishing) compatible sci-fi/horror RPG Grimmerspace has absolutely smashed it’s original $10,000 goal and currently sits at nearly $60,000. Co-developed with Lou Agresta and Rone Barton, Grimmerspace promises to offer a “unique blend of hard-sci-fi with fantasy as its core tension involves a group of powerful magic wielders known as the Sundermages invading the Gliding Rim Galaxy.”

Grimmerspace is set in a non-magical, science-fiction horror universe, and the citizens of Grimmerspace (“Grimmers”) are veterans of fighting alien abominations from the depths. Despite its strangeness and its terrors, their’s remains a rational, scientific reality. Until now.

Astin has worked with Barton (co-founder of Iron GM Games) and Agresta (Razor Coast, Heart of the Razor) to create this expansive new world addition to quest in. The Setting and Adventures book boasts over 14 different adventures, exploring 14 different locations throughout the Gliding Rim universe setting, promising a wealth of information about the newly defined regions and the civilizations that vie for control over them.

But don’t worry about missing that initial Kickstarter goal, they have stretch goals.

For fans who want to enjoy the game online there’s a series of stretch goals which will unlock Grimmerspace in Roll20, Fantasy Grounds and D20Pro as part of the ‘Digital Rewards’ goal. These three platforms are the most popular virtual tabletops online and will help make the game accessible to a vast online audience.

Which, yeah, they already hit, so prepare for a feature-rich product. If you want a piece of the action, you can check out their Kickstarter campaign here. Grimmerspace is being released with assistance from Modiphius Entertainment, who will be working with Iron GM Games on the game’s marketing and logistical support.
