Today, Pandasaurus Games announces the standalone sequel to their Spiel de Jahres and Le Lis Grand Public Nominee, Machi Koro. The new game, Machi Koro 2, takes the original rules and adds new ones to deepen and vary the gameplay for new players and veterans alike. Check out the full description below:
Your favorite lovably quirky city is back at it again! Welcome to Machi Koro 2, where new adventures await, but the bakeries and business centers are still abundant. In Machi Koro 2, veteran players will notice some big changes.
Under the new zoning laws, players receive a limited budget to choose their own starting establishments. The available cards are pulled from three decks and arranged for all to see. It’s a race to grab the coolest new establishments and landmarks in the land!
The cards in this set have exciting, never-before-seen effects. But choose what you build wisely, as your landmarks might also benefit your opponents! With more variety than ever before, no two games will be the same. Machi Koro 2 will have fans visiting again and again!

According to Pandasaurus, there are some big changes to the gameplay. For example, the cards available in each game are randomized, making each game different! Buildings are separated into three decks (1-6, 7-12, and landmarks), but only five card types from each deck are revealed at a time.
Players will complete three initial building rounds where they spend coins to choose the first buildings in their little towns. Landmarks also work differently, as they each have unique effects and can be built in any order, but each one you build gets more expensive.
Like we’ve done with our recent new releases, we are also offering a pre-order promo for Machi Koro 2. Pre-orders will include 3 additional bonus Landmarks: City Hall, Private Club, and Renovation Company.
