Ovation Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month With Slate Of Curating Programming Featuring Hispanic Creators And Culture

Ovation TV, America’s premier arts network, is set to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) with a free, specially curated section of programming on the Ovation NOW app. Honoring its mission of celebrating and presenting all forms of art, Ovation will highlight artistic excellence in the Hispanic community with profiles and interviews featuring some of the biggest artists in the world: Carlos Santana, Jennifer Lopez, Benicio del Toro, Demi Lovato, Salma Hayek, Shakira, and more. Additional titles include films starring and featuring Hispanic actors and characters, and travel docuseries exploring the rich culture of various Hispanic countries. This special folder will be available, free to all, on the Ovation NOW app.

The following titles will be available starting September 15:

Bed and Breakfast (2010 film)

A Brazilian executive saleswoman (Juliana Paes) inherits a bed and breakfast in the wine country of California. Problem is, so did Jake (Dean Cain).

Bruno Mars: Just the Way I Am (2016 film)

Bruno Mars has soared to fame from struggling songwriter to international superstar. This series looks at the 20th century’s iconic film directors – the real innovators whose breakthrough direction made film into the movies. Featuring Luis Buñuel (1 episode).

A story of how a group of mavericks made an unlikely marriage of hip-hop and history to create the biggest show in America. Featuring interviews with Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as the cast and crew of Hamilton.

Inside the Actors Studio

The legendary interview series that examines the craft and careers of hundreds of actors. Featuring Jennifer Lopez (1 episode).

J-Lo: From the Block (2020 film)

Jennifer Lopez is one of Hollywood’s leading ladies. Throughout her career, she has starred in major blockbusters, released multi-platinum albums, and raised thousands for charities, ultimately propelling herself to the forefront of Hollywood’s fame.

Legends of Opera (9/27-10/15 only)

A new series celebrating the great opera singers of our time. Featuring Jose Carrera and Montserrat Caballe (2 episodes).

Little Ashes (2008 film)

About the young life and loves of artist Salvador Dalí, filmmaker Luis Buñuel and writer Federico García Lorca. Starring Javier Beltrán, Robert Pattinson, and Matthew McNulty.

Off the Menu (2017 film)

A feisty female chef known for the best authentic food in all of the Southwest falls for an unlikely heir to a Mexican fast-food franchise. Starring Dania Ramirez and Santino Fontana.

Pop Profiles

A series telling the stories of pop stars from their earliest performances through breakthrough singles to world domination. Featuring Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, and Demi Lovato (5 episodes).

Rio Cantoria (2021 film, 9/23-10/15 only)

Paula Lavigne invites musicians and singers to her home overlooking Ipanema Beach. Songs spill out, in the style of a roda de samba. Among the performers are Nelson Sargento and singer Alcione. They reprise the samba and Música popular Brasileira hits.

Shakira: Latin Queen (2019 film, 9/22-10/15 only)

Catchy lyrics and hip-shaking dance moves; Shakira is one of the greatest artists of our time. Her songs have been played all over the globe and have influenced audiences everywhere. Top charting hits, groundbreaking collaborations, and world cup anthems.


This series offers unique insights into the careers of some of the world’s most iconic musicians by giving the artist the opportunity to discuss their illustrious career with an interviewer of their choosing — a journalist, creative partner, musician, or friend. This episode features Carlos Santana and Harry Belafonte (1 episode).

Stars of the Silver Screen

Stars of the Silver Screen celebrates the lives of those who soared the highest, uncovering what drove them and why the world loved them. This episode focuses on Mexican American actor Anthony Quinn (1 episode).

The Art Of: Tequila

This Ovation original production looks at the festive spirit of tequila. Casa Mexico Tequila brings viewers through the process of tequila making, from harvesting to bottling. Features Mario Lopez.

Travel Man

In each episode, Richard Ayoade and a celebrity travel pal jet off to an exciting location for a 48-hr. city break. In each location, he challenges himself to see and do as much as possible, stretch his dollar, and subject so-called tourist attractions to his ruthless scrutiny. Across the globe, ordinary women are doing extraordinary things. See how they are challenging themselves and defying expectations. Featuring policewomen in Brazil (1 episode).
