Cox and his actors delight in tiny behavioral observations, both in terms of how they move and act, but also how they express their feelings. While the story may not be new, the voice telling it, is.

It was confirmed via the film’s official Instagram today that the indie gem is set to continue its storyline due to popular demand from fans across the globe.

The film will center on the enigmatic titular character of Mesa (portrayed by Andrea Granera) as she continues to navigate her identity in the summer of 1986 – one year after her romantic awakening with a girl from out of town named Lily (Molly Miles).

Along with the returning fan-favorite leads, two new characters will be introduced: Mesa’s queer-identifying best friend Leo (Mateo Correa) and a potential new love interest Emily (Deepti Menon).

Filming begins this summer on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and updates can be found on the film’s official Instagram account @SummerofMesa.
