Summer of Mesa, a queer romantic drama, which went viral upon its worldwide YouTube release in May 2020 is officially getting a sequel. The film (which can be viewed here) centered around two teen girls whose friendship blossomed into an unexpected and passionate romance during the summer of 1985. It was confirmed via the film’s official Instagram today that the indie gem is set to continue its storyline due to popular demand from fans across the globe.
The film will center on the enigmatic titular character of Mesa (portrayed by Andrea Granera) as she continues to navigate her identity in the summer of 1986 – one year after her romantic awakening with a girl from out of town named Lily (Molly Miles).
Along with the returning fan-favorite leads, two new characters will be introduced: Mesa’s queer-identifying best friend Leo (Mateo Correa) and a potential new love interest Emily (Deepti Menon).
Filming begins this summer on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and updates can be found on the film’s official Instagram account @SummerofMesa.
