Black Panther’s First Trailer Debuts

After his blockbuster debut in Captain America: Civil War, many comic movie fans were excited to see more of Black Panther. He was easily one of the highlights of the movie, after all. Chadwick Boseman killed it in the role, the suit looked great, and he got some of the best action sequences in the film. After this first trailer, I doubt anyone will feel less hyped than they did before.

Taking place after the events of Civil War, Black Panther sees T’Challa return home to the fictional African country of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, antagonistic forces within the country conspire to take him down, he teams with the Dora Milaje – the all-female special forces of Wakanda – and a CIA agent to stop these rebel factions and prevent something even worse. This is Marvel, after all. I’m sure the world will be at stake eventually.

We get a look at the various heroes and villains in action, and of course, everything looks great. I love Black Panther’s suit so much and I’d hazard a guess that the vibranium it’s made of will be a central plot point due to its importance to Wakanda and the Marvel universe as a whole. The Dora Milaje look awesome, as does the split between a third-world and futuristic setting. And hopefully, the black main character and predominantly black cast can kill more of the movie industry’s worries about diversity selling, just like Wonder Woman has. It’s ridiculous that these excuses need to be killed at all, but here we are.

If none of this sold you, hopefully, ‘Run the Jewels’ did.

Black Panther is scheduled for release on February 16, 2018. Starring alongside Boseman is Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, and Daniel Kaluuya.
