A24 has announced the next film to come from writers Max Eggers (The Lighthouse) and Sam Eggers (Olympia): The Front Room, a psychological horror flick adapted from a short story by British author Susan Hill. The film will be the brothers directorial debut and is set to star musician and classic scream queen Brandy Norwood (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cinderella), with Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth) and Tony-award winner Andrew Burnap (Snow White). Neil Huff (Spotlight) has also been cast.

The Front Room will be the Eggers brothers first production to not involve their brother Robert, with whom they co-wrote The Lighthouse and the short film The Tell Tale Heart. The two adapted the screenplay from Susan Hill’s short story of the same name, published as part of her 2016 collection The Traveling Bag and Other Ghostly Stories. In it, a family invites their grandmother into their home. The mother grows suspicious of the woman’s “evil” presence and they are soon tormented by her…even from beyond the grave. Hill is also the author of The Woman In Black, which was adapted twice to the screen in 1989 and in 2012. In the Eggers adaptation, a young, newly pregnant couple are forced to take in an ailing stepmother from whom the family has long been estranged.

A24 are set to produce alongside Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures and Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM. A24 will also be handling worldwide distribution.
